Would your caterer commandeer a boat and sail across the sea to bring your food to you? Avenue Catering did!
Avenue Catering delivered a lovely catered dinner to a customer ready to embark on a trip to John's Island.. the farthest island in the U.S. San Juan Islands.
After our delivery, the Avenue team member discovered that the customer loaded the wrong box onto his boat... that lovely catered dinner was still with us.
We contacted the marina where they had just stopped to fuel. They had just left. We tried to call them on their cell... no answer.
Luckily, we knew a local fisherman with a fast boat. With one phone call our Executive Chef was driving to Anacortes to load the food on the boat. In minutes, the fisherman and the chef were traveling full speed toward John's Island.
It took some time, but eventually we were able to contact the customer. He had just arrived on John's Island and didn't know that he grabbed the wrong container. When I told him that he left his food on the dock, he didn't know what to say. Then I told him that Avenue Catering had hired a boat and that our chef was on his way to John's Island. Our customer was stunned.
After a 2 hour boat ride, the chef, the fisherman and the customer were able to connect. The food was handed to the customer and the customer, still in a state of disbelief, handed the empty container to the chef.
